Many people outside the Pooh I Like To Stay In Bad It’s Too Peopley Outside Shirt space understand marketing as advertising. As marketers, I think we have done a shoddy job of marketing ourselves, and this is my humble attempt to clarify this perception. Funny that, marketers, so good at helping others create definition, create scope, hype and help generate big brands and big sales are not creating the correct awareness for our field. When I was in third grade, a fellow classmate came to class dressed in a tank top, shorts, and the same dirty tennis shoes he wore every day. The boy’s name was Brandon. He was very skinny, had dark circles under his eyes, very thin hair, and was on the lower end of the curve in class. I think about that day often. It was the dead middle of winter. I remember that I wore a purple, puffy coat, long jeans that I argued about wearing, and long sleeves. I walked from my mother’s. I don’t know what triggered it, but I have been arrested by my pain these days. I feel alone in new ways as I experience unfamiliar territories of grieving. Anger that wasn’t there before is now a constant companion.

We have our beliefs, friends, opinions, conversations and never really step outside the box to experience what else is around us. I see a lot of posts about how people think relationships mean having butterflies forever, your heart beating faster when they walk into a room, about cuddling together every night, legs intertwined, that you’d be so happy to live together you’d sleep on a double bed with each other every night. I ignored them and continued to eat my lunch. The defensive remark was uncalled for. Malcolm was covering his ears because it was the Pooh I Like To Stay In Bad It’s Too Peopley Outside Shirt way he knew to block out noises that make him anxious. Just as it is normal for babies to cry, it is also normal for children with autism to cover their ears when they are adverse to something. I really hope people can learn to be kind and more mindful before they pass any remarks whether in publicspace or in social media.
